What is dimensional weight?
Dimensional (volumetric) weight estimates a shipment's weight from its size rather than a scale, so carriers can price bulky-but-light packages fairly. Carriers bill whichever is higher: the actual weight or the dimensional weight.
What DIM factor should I use?
139 (in³/lb) is the common US domestic parcel factor, 166 is typical for international air express, and 5000 (cm³/kg) is the standard metric air freight factor. Always confirm the exact factor with your specific carrier — it varies by service level.
